This page explains the words you will see across the Clients guides in plain language. You do not need to memorize them. Come back any time a word is unclear.

Words to know
| Word | What it means |
|---|---|
| Provider network | The medical team that employs the doctors who review your patients. You partner with one; you do not hire the doctors yourself. |
| Client (you) | Your brand. You run the storefront, prices, and website. The provider network runs the medical side. |
| Formulary | Your medication menu — the medicines you are allowed to sell, with their prices. |
| Intake | The health questions and consent forms a patient fills in when they buy. They give the provider what they need to decide. |
| Sync visit (live video visit) | A live video appointment between the patient and a provider, at a set time. |
| Async visit (questionnaire visit) | No live call. The patient answers questions and a provider reviews them later. |
| Chart review | A provider reads the patient's answers and health info, then approves or denies. |
| Provider | A licensed clinician from the provider network who reviews patients and prescribes. |
| Affiliate (arrangement) | One type of network deal where you sell products the network owns and the network handles more of the medical side. |
| Credentials | The secret keys or logins a service gives you to connect it. For Stripe, these are your API keys. |
| Payment processor | The company that moves card payments into your bank (Stripe, Authorize.Net, NMI, or Square). |
| LegitScript | A certification that shows you sell telehealth safely. Some processors approve you faster if you have it. |
| OnlyScripts | The pharmacy service that fills and ships your patients' medications. |
| Pharmacy partner | The pharmacy that packs and ships the medicine to the patient. |
| Fulfillment | Packing and shipping the medication to the patient. The pharmacy does this, not you. |
| Catalog | All the products and labs you offer, in one list. |
| Storefront | The page patients see when they browse and buy your products. |
| Copy (text) | A marketing word that just means the words on the page. |
| DNS records | Settings at your website host that point your web address to the right place. Needed for a custom domain. |
| Propagate | The wait after you change DNS while the internet catches up. Can take up to 48 hours. |
| Marker (lab) | One thing a lab test measures, like cholesterol or vitamin D. |
| Panel (lab) | A group of markers tested together in one lab order. |
| Walk-in draw | The patient goes to a lab location to have blood drawn, with no appointment. |
| Payment prompt | A message asking the patient to pay before the order can move forward. |
| Hold (held order) | An order waiting for you to review or act before it continues. |
| Void | Cancel a charge before the money settles. No refund is needed because it never fully charged. |
| Refund | Send money back to the patient after a charge has settled. |
| Pairing | Linking one of your products to one medicine at one pharmacy, with a price. |
| Add-on visit | An extra live or questionnaire visit you attach to a product, on top of the first one. |
| Escalation | Passing a medical question to the provider network instead of answering it yourself. |
| Promo code / coupon | A code that gives the patient a discount at checkout. |
| UTM parameters | Tags added to a link so you can see which ad or email a patient came from. |
| Webhook | An automatic message your website gets when something happens, like an order being placed. For developers. |
| API key | A secret code that lets your website talk to GEN Health. For developers. |
| Publishable storefront key | A public code that lets your website show and sell your products. For developers. |
| Form schema | The list of questions in a form, in a format a developer can read. |
| Session status endpoint | A web address a developer's code checks to see if a checkout finished. |
| Hosted checkout | A ready-made payment page GEN Health hosts, so you do not need a developer to take payment. |
| Demo mode | A practice mode. You can click around, but real payments and real checkout links do not work yet. |
| Client Admin | The role that can set everything up: branding, payments, products, team. |
| Client Staff | The role for daily work: patients, orders, messages. Cannot change setup. |
| Entity name vs display name | Entity name is your legal or account name. Display name is what patients see. |
| Visibility (product) | Controls whether a product shows in browsing. A hidden product can still be bought by a direct link. |
| Platform fee | What GEN Health charges you to use the platform. Paid with a separate payment method. |
