Contract Network
Step 1 of going live: link your brand to a provider network so your orders can be reviewed and prescribed.
This page shows how your brand links to a provider network. A provider network is the licensed doctors who review your orders and prescribe. This is step 1 of going live.
Nothing else works until this link is in place. You do this as a Client Admin.
Before you start
Have these ready:
Your signed contract with a provider network
The name and email of your GEN Health contact
Your arrangement: Review Only, Review + Prescribe, or Affiliate
Who does what: GEN Health links your brand to your network. You cannot do this step yourself. You only confirm it is done.
Time: Your active time is about 5 minutes to confirm. GEN Health does the linking after your contract is signed. Ask your contact how long that will take.
Why you need a provider network
GEN Health does not employ doctors. You do not either. Every order that needs a medical decision goes to your provider network.
This covers a prescription, a health review, or a visit. Until your brand is linked to a network, patients can browse and buy. But no order can be reviewed or prescribed.
How an order flows
Here is the path of one order:
- A patient buys from your storefront.
- The patient fills in intake, which is the health questions and consent forms.
- A provider from your network reviews the order. They approve it or deny it.
- If the order is approved and needs medicine, the pharmacy ships it.
You run the storefront. Your provider network runs the review. The pharmacy ships the medicine.
The three arrangements
Your contract sets your arrangement. It decides who collects patient payments and what your providers do. There are three.
| Arrangement | In plain words | Who collects payment | What you can do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Review Only | Providers review orders. They do not write prescriptions. You arrange any medicine and shipping yourself. | You, with your own payment processor. | Sell products. Get a provider review. Handle the pharmacy on your own. |
| Review + Prescribe | Providers review orders and write prescriptions. The platform pharmacy fills them. | You, with your own payment processor. | Sell products. Get reviews and prescriptions. Use the platform pharmacy. |
| Affiliate | You sell products your provider network owns. The network handles more of the medical and payment side. | Your provider network, through their setup. | Sell the network's products. Payments run through the network. |
Why this matters now — your arrangement decides who collects patient payments. That changes how you set up the next step, Connect Payments.
Get connected
Wait for GEN Health to link your network
After you sign your contract, your GEN Health contact links your brand to your provider network. You cannot do this yourself. Ask your contact when it will be done.
Check that your network is linked
In the left menu, click Integrations. Scroll to the Provider Networks section. Your network shows there once it is linked.
Check that your network's products appear
In the left menu, click Products. Products from your network show up as rows you can turn on. If you see them, your link is working.
Find out which arrangement you have
In the left menu, click Billing. If the page says payments run through your provider network and there is no processor to connect, you are on the Affiliate arrangement. If you can connect your own processor, you are on Review Only or Review + Prescribe. Not sure which of those two? Check your contract or ask your GEN Health contact.
Move on to payments
Once your network is linked, set up how patients pay you. Open the next guide, Connect Payments.
There is no single "network linked" screen. The app has no one page that confirms your network. You check it two ways: your network shows under Integrations, and its products show under Products.
Words to know
| Word | What it means |
|---|---|
| Provider network | The medical team that employs the doctors who review your patients. You partner with one; you do not hire the doctors yourself. |
| Provider | A licensed clinician from the provider network who reviews patients and prescribes. |
| Intake | The health questions and consent forms a patient fills in when they buy. They give the provider what they need to decide. |
| Affiliate (arrangement) | One type of network deal where you sell products the network owns and the network handles more of the medical side. |
| Payment processor | The company that moves card payments into your bank (Stripe, Authorize.Net, NMI, or Square). |
